Patient Search

 

 

The Patient List screen allows the user to:

  • Search for a patient record
  • Access an existing patient’s record for review or editing
  • Create a new patient record

 

The Patient List screen can be accessed by clicking the Patient List button on the Workflow View menu bar.

 

 

 

 

 

To search for a particular patient, enter the information in one or more of the search criteria below.

 

 

 

Patient List Search Fields

Criteria

Required Format

Name

Enter Last Name only; last name with a comma and first initial; last name with a comma and full first name; or last name with a comma and nickname.  Partial names can be entered and the percent symbol (%) can be used as a wild card.  In addition, the question mark (?) can be used to search for all entries for a particular last name if multiple searches are made for family members.

      Doe

      Doe,J

      Doe,John

      J%,D%

      Doe?

Account

Enter the account number (i.e. 123456)

DOB

Enter the patient’s date of birth in the MMDDYYYY format  (i.e. 12251996)

HIC

Enter the patient’s ID number assigned by their Health Insurance Company

Phone

Enter the patient’s phone number in the ###/###-#### format.  (i.e. 222/111-3333). This search criterion will search for the entry in the Home Phone, Daytime Phone, or Mobile Phone fields.

Appt No

Enter the patient’s appointment number.

Guarantor

Enter the patient’s guarantor name.  (i.e. Smith)

MR No.

Enter the patient’s medical record number (i.e. 100068)

MPI

Enter the patient’s Master Patient Index number if system is configured for multi-patient indexing.

PID

Enter the information that is entered in the Other ID field on the patient’s demographic record.

SSNO

Enter the patient’s social security number in the format NNN-NN-NNNN.

Refresh

Prompts the system to execute a search based on the search criteria.

Alphabet

Opens the Alphabet search screen used for touch screen computers.

Clear

Clears the Search Criteria so a new search can be initiated.

 

Enter criteria directly in the fields within the Search Criteria section.

Click the Active Only checkbox to display only the active accounts.  

Click on the Refresh button or hit the Tab button on the keyboard.  If the search was successful, one or more patient records will appear in the list.

Click on the desired patient from the list so that the record is highlighted.

Click on any of the buttons located along the top of  the Patient List screen to process the patient.
